An independent companion
Boreen Independent Guide helps players understand the daily game and explore Irish knowledge. It is not the official Boreen website. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or authorised by the game’s creators. “Boreen” identifies the game being discussed; the compass identity and atlas artwork on this site are our own.
The official game is at boreen.ie ↗. We link to it directly, do not embed it and do not bypass framing restrictions.
How we check a claim
Each article names its sources and a review date. Official game pages support observed interface and rule statements. Reliable reporting supports clearly attributed launch information. Tourism Ireland, the Office of Public Works, World Heritage Ireland, the National Trust and the official Hook Lighthouse site support the geography cards.
Text is independently written. AI-assisted drafts are checked against retrieved source material; the presence of a source link alone does not prove a claim. Calculations are labelled as worked examples and practice prompts are labelled as our own.
Daily answers have a higher evidence requirement
A future daily answer needs a lawful source, the exact journey identifier, a factual check and editorial review. An archive link, a general trivia fact or a plausible guess does not meet that requirement. We currently publish no verified daily answer set.
Dynamic pages show when they were checked. A date change on a visitor’s device does not automatically turn yesterday’s observation into a newly verified guide.
Corrections and changing rules
If an article conflicts with the current game, follow the official interface and its instructions. Review the dated sources listed on the affected page before relying on an older rule. This guide currently has no staffed reader inbox or contact form. Its source links let you inspect the evidence behind each claim. For a game issue, use support options supplied by Boreen itself. We record corrections in dated editorial revisions and do not promise a response channel that is not operating.
Artwork and source register
The atlas illustration uses public-domain Natural Earth coastline geometry with our own typography, route line and decorations. It is a simplified study graphic. No official game screenshots, 3D scene assets or question-bank artwork are distributed here. Fonts are self-hosted under their Open Font Licenses.
7 questions, 25 seconds each, rarer valid answers travel further; Journey #021 and Today: Boston observed 2 November 2026.
Reported six daily distance tiers, results comparisons and friend leagues. Rarity fractions are approximate descriptions, not a verified scoring algorithm.
Observed #001–#021 and associated dates. The archive says replayed journeys do not count towards your streak.
Observed the displayed milestone scale: Mizen Head 0, Rock of Cashel 120, Cliffs of Moher 280, Newgrange 450, Giant’s Causeway 700 km. These are game distances, not road distances.
Observed 6/8/10 rounds, category/journey controls, up to three answers per team per round, and 1–6 point rarity tiers. No question bank reproduced.
32 traditional counties, four provinces; 26 counties in the Republic and six in Northern Ireland. Province membership read from the page.
County Wicklow; St Kevin’s foundation in the sixth century; round tower and medieval churches.
County Tipperary; limestone outcrop with medieval buildings, including Cormac’s Chapel.
Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth are the principal passage tombs in the Boyne landscape; Neolithic, around 5,000 years old.
Hook Peninsula in County Wexford; purpose-built medieval lighthouse associated with William Marshal, about 800 years old.
County Antrim, Northern Ireland; coastal landscape of basalt columns.
Kilkenny city; castle built in the twelfth century with later rebuilding. No current visitor opening claims made.
Coastline geometry used for an original atlas illustration; public domain. Labels and route are original illustrative additions.
The public page response identifies day 21, 2 November 2026 and seven topic contexts. Context is observed; game acceptance, complete solutions and player rarity are not verified.
Primary 2026 schedule announcement names Dublin–Boston and Dublin–New York JFK; used as route-history evidence, not as booking or live timetable advice.
Family relationships and the Dunganstown, County Wexford link. Biography facts do not establish an in-game accepted answer or rarity.
Read the primary three-page worksheet through the web PDF text reader. It contrasts chips/crisps and lift/elevator. It describes British/US usage; Irish regional usage and game acceptance are not inferred. Local HTTP client was blocked.
Official city park page establishes Boston Common and its 1634 foundation. No current opening/event advice is asserted.
2026 incorporated-place table lists Dublin city, California, GEOID 0620018; used to distinguish an actual US place from a business or road name.
The Boston pub explains its role as inspiration for the setting of Cheers. The programme synopsis on Paramount+ also identifies a Boston bar; local Paramount fetch was unavailable, so that page is not the sole factual source.
A real generated quiz with team and quizmaster material. Per-round instructions give points for each distinct listed answer, zero for other responses, close-spelling allowance and a round-specific maximum. The full question/answer material is not republished.
